The steps Apple Health already counts, pointed at Machu Picchu.
Watch Walks for iPhone and Apple Watch is on the App Store. There is no workout to start and no GPS to drain the battery: it reads the step count your phone and watch already keep, and walks you the 43 km of the Inca Trail with it. For iPhone (iOS 16+) with Apple Watch Series 4 or later (watchOS 10+).
Set up your iPhone and Apple Watch in three steps
Install from the App Store
Open the App Store on your iPhone, search for Watch Walks, and tap Get. It's free to install, and the Inca Trail is free to walk.
Get it on the App StoreOpen it and allow Apple Health
Open Watch Walks and, when asked, allow it to read your step count from Apple Health. That's the one permission that matters, because your steps are what carry you down the trail. No account needed.
Apple setup guideAdd the Watch app

Stuck? Start with Apple Health.
- My Apple Watch app didn't appear. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps, and install Watch Walks.
- No steps are counting. Open Watch Walks and allow Apple Health access for step count; that's what carries you down the trail.
- Progress looks behind. Pull to refresh in the app; it re-reads Apple Health and syncs with your watch.
- Still stuck? Email watchwalksupport@gmail.com and we'll sort it out.
